How to keep your yogi status with a busy schedule

Though we all wish we had more time to do the things we love or even just the things we need, sometimes life gets in the way. Responsibilities are time consuming and often come with tons of stress, but the craft of yoga exists to ease our minds and relax our bodies. If time isn’t on your side, here are a few ways to get your yoga fix:

Wake Up Early

Set your alarm clock for an hour earlier! Do some stretches or exercises to help get you prepared and ready to conquer the day ahead of you. The side plank pose, or Vasisthasana, will have you reaching for that rising sun! Well, depending on how early you set that alarm.

 

Take Short Breaks

If your work allows you to get away for 10 minutes, take the opportunity to practice less extensive poses or engage in a short meditation session. Patanjali once said, “Yoga is the practice of quieting the mind.” A short break can be freeing.

 

Focus on Posture

Being mindful of your posture throughout the day can drastically help better your lifestyle. Practice different poses while sitting down in your desk chair that will help improve your posture. Sometimes a Marichyasana, sitting twist of the back, is all you need to loosen up if you plan to be married to your seat for a long period of time.

 

Practice Multi-tasking

Take advantage of TV time, laundry day, or even showering (you might want to proceed that one with caution). You’ll be surprised how many yoga positions you can accomplish during this time.

 

Maintaining your Yogi status definitely calls for being creative with your time, but it is all worth it in the long run. We at La Forma understand creativity and know that it is an important aspect to being the best version of you!
